Our exploration of Les Bandes Dessinées continues this evening with the eightieth comic album of the Lucky Luke series (the third collaboration between cartoonist Achdé and screenwriter Jul.) entitled “A Cowboy in High Cotton”. Our member, Didier Bourceaux, will guide us through the story of the infamous Lonesome Cowboy that begins when a rich widow and admirer of his exploits bequeaths him a 250 acre cotton plantation in Louisiana.
This
time, Lucky Luke confronts racism in the plantations of the southern
United States and introduces us to a character who really existed, Bass
Reeves, the first African-American deputy marshal west of the
Mississippi.
